  Hello

I recently found a couple of photos of a Rochdale GT, registration number 1582N, that used to owned by my late father. Thought you might be interested - see:
https://picasaweb.google.com/117922923081977248726/RochdaleGT02
The photos are dated 1965, and looking at the state of it I very much doubt it has survived, but it would be interesting to know if it is still around.

Regards,
Stewart

I think I might have built the last Phase 2. I had ordered new but could not get them to fulfill the order. However an older shell was gathering dust in the corner which I bought circa 1973

Sold circa 1994/5

I would be interested to know what happened to her - PBK 74M. Ford 1600 cross flow eventually gas flowed and bored out to 1760cc. Triumph Vitesse front and Ford Corsair rear.

Anyone know?

Would love to find and restore a Rochdale Olympic. I have memories from the late 60s living at 44 Littledale Street, playing marbles on the street at 8 or 9 years old, as we did in them days and the smell of resin from the Olympic factory at the bottom of the hill.
Around 10 or 11 years later when I started my first proper job in Stalybridge, I met up with Phil Butterworth, who became and still is a good friend. Phil is the son of Frank who I subsequently went on to know and had the pleasure of many discussions on those happy days.

  Hi Howard
I still have ESU816 and also the NSW registration plates in that number. The Fiat engine is still in my keeping but the engine now is a 1500 Cortina GT pre crossflow. The Fiat engine exhaust running next to the clutch foot was unbearable.
Good to hear from you again,
Regards Keith

I was interested to read Peter Collier's letter to you from New Zealand mentioning ESU 816. I purchased the car via the Rochdale Owners Club, and Alaric Spendlove, from Dave Crook in Manchester in 1995 and shipped it over here to Perth just before the new year. Is the Fiat engine still in it? I heard that it had been replaced by a Ford 1600 cross flow.
Regards,

Howard Fryer.

Started as an apprentice at the littledale street mill from about 1963/4, worked on the 1st phase 2 car with a 1500GT ford engine, all rush as a motorsport magazine were coming to road test it locally, we took them round syke ponds i seem to remember; I was with the mechanic called Mark i think, one or two small teething problems but overall it went well, i couldnt wait to tell my mates when i got home. Been in the trade ever since & would like to know if anyone has any more names of the workforce. Thanks Jim

Hello, I owned a Phase 1 Olympic in the early 1970s. Reg was AMH10A. I sold it to a Paul Narramore. Any ideas on what happened to it (Riley 1.5 running gear, Spayed Green).
I then bought a decayed one with BMC 1.5 engine in the late 1980s. It was NDB279G and I part restored it before selling it in early 90s. It had been on private plate 90FHO. Again, anyone know where it is now?!
I still have the odd owners club mags from early 90s and a "Motor" magazine reprinted road test of the Ph1. from 1961.

  hello all,
I would like to imform you that have sadly recently inherited a Rochdale Olympic phase 2 from my father.Although ,always on the road i feel that it is now in need of a lot of TLC both inside and out.The car originally purchased in 1963 registered 1965 has always been quite unique and i believe unknown to the ROC. I am hoping to be accepted as a member of the ROC in the very near future. I find it truly wonderful that such a club & so many enthusiasts are keeping the Rochdale`s unique design and history alive. Its a wonderful website .. Keep up the good work
My Regards
Robin J
