Hi, In 1959, I owned a rochdale GT based on a Ford 10 chassis, it was my pride and joy. I have a transparancy of the care if you want to borrow it to copy, I would want it back though.

i would own another Rochdale if I could find one now I am in my dotage. I have a very nice Triumph 13/60 convertable in excellent condition. Regards. Ken.

I bought a Rochdale Special with a three gear Ford engine whilst based in Manchester in 1965.

On the way back to my home in Leeds the gear lever broke off and I drove it all the way over the Pennines in third gear!

The gear lever was quickly repaired and my youngest brother and I drove the Rochdale for several years.

I always wanted an Olympic Phase 2 but it was never to happen.

I have an olympic that I inherited from my father. He bought it and assembled it in the uk, and then brought it home. It's been sitting in a barn for 40 years.

I've just stumbled across your site whilst looking up 50's specials. What's more, you've finally settled a debate/discussion my brother-in-law and I have had for many years, i.e. was there a car manufacturer based in Rochdale? It must have been an Olympic he saw in Rochdale in the early sixties whilst he was a travelling salesman. A local said it was a car made by a car manufacturer in Rochdale. Knowing my interest in cars,he travelled around looking for a big factory - the car looked far too good to be a 'mere' special cobbled together in someone's garage! He expected to find something like Cowley or Abingdon! He didn't and so just assumed the local was wrong. I'm not sure how we/I never discovered the Rochdale mark in the subsequent years, but there you go! Nice looking car and I can see why Fred thought it was a car from a 'big' factory!
