What's more, you've finally settled a debate/discussion my brother-in-law and I have had for many years, i.e. was there a car manufacturer based in Rochdale? It must have been an Olympic he saw in Rochdale in the early sixties whilst he was a travelling salesman. A local said it was a car made by a car manufacturer in Rochdale. Knowing my interest in cars,he travelled around looking for a big factory - the car looked far too good to be a 'mere' special cobbled together in someone's garage! He expected to find something like Cowley or Abingdon! He didn't and so just assumed the local was wrong. I'm not sure how we/I never discovered the Rochdale mark in the subsequent years, but there you go! Nice looking car and I can see why Fred thought it was a car from a 'big' factory! IP : Devon |
